Visit of Shri Karunakar Gupta, DDG & HOG and Shri Anil Choudhary, DDG & HOD(NKN -PoP), Chennai on 01st October 2026
Shri Karunakar Gupta, DDG & HoG (Networks & NKN/DII PMU), and Shri Anil Choudhary, DDG & HoD (NKN/DII PMU), visited the NKN PoP, Chennai, on 1st October 2026 to review the ongoing migration activities involving new network devices, including routers, WAN Switches, Routing Reflectors and firewall devices. They were received by Shri M. Kamalakkannan, DDG & SIO, NIC Tamil Nadu, along with senior officers of NIC Tamil Nadu State Centre (TNSC).
Shri S. Gopinath, Senior Director, NIC Bengaluru, was deputed to Chennai to coordinate and support the migration of core and edge links of NKN/NICNET to the new network infrastructure. The migration activities are being coordinated and executed by the NKN/Network Team of NIC Chennai, under the coordination of Shri R. Rajasekaran, Scientist-E, and Smt. Hemamalini, Scientist-D along with NKN Support team.
The visit provided valuable guidance on device configuration and preparedness, validation and testing, phased migration, downtime management and implementation strategies, thereby facilitating a smooth and systematic migration to the new network infrastructure.
