Launch of Thaimaaman Thanga Mothiram Thittam (TMTMT): An Integrated Web and Mobile Digital Solution – 28.09.2026

Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Thiru. C. Joseph Vijay inaugurated the “Thaimaaman Thanga Mothiram Thittam (TMTMT)” on 28.09.2026 at Government Rajaji Hospital, Madurai, Tamil Nadu. The scheme is a special welfare initiative of the Government of Tamil Nadu introduced to celebrate the birth of children in Government hospitals and to reflect the traditional affection and caring relationship associated with the maternal uncle (Thaimaaman) in Tamil culture.
Under the scheme, a one-gram gold ring is provided to every child born in a Government hospital, with effect from 22.06.2026. With around 4.20 lakh deliveries taking place annually in Government hospitals, the scheme is being implemented on a large scale across the State. Each ring carries a Unique Serial Number and is supplied in tamper-proof packaging, requiring a secure mechanism for beneficiary identification, ring allocation, inventory control, authentication and distribution.
NIC, Tamil Nadu has developed the TMTMT Web and Mobile Applications as an additional module integrated with PICME 3.0 (Pregnancy and Infant Cohort Monitoring and Evaluation), the digital platform of the Department of Public Health and Preventive Medicine for managing pregnancy, mother and child-related information. The solution was developed and implemented under the guidance of Shri Kamalakkannan M., DDG & SIO, NIC Tamil Nadu, through the dedicated efforts of the development team under the leadership of the NIC-TNSC team led by Shri R. Sainath, Senior Director (IT), and Ms. D. Sripriya, Joint Director
(IT), in close coordination with the NHM and DPH teams of Government of Tamil Nadu.
