On 09/01/2020, Our Hon’ble Minister of Communications, Electronics, Information Technology and Law and Justice, Shri Ravi Sankar Prasad Ji, launched the Chennai Andaman and Nicobar Islands fibre optic link (CANI) at Hotel Le Meridian in the presence of Hon’ble Lt Governor A&N islands and CMD BSNL. Then the Minister flagged off the Ship from Chennai airport for the cable laying work. This is the first under sea cable connecting two places with a distance of 2200 kilometers (1400 Kms between Chennai and Andaman and 800 kilometers across various islands in and around Andaman).
