Swachhata Hi Seva 2025 – Guest Lecture on “Environmental Sustainability and Circular Economy”

As part of the Swachhata Hi Seva 2025 campaign, an expert lecture on “Environmental Sustainability and Circular Economy” was organized by NIC Tamil Nadu on 25th September 2025.
Dr. S. Kanmani, Professor and Head, Department of Civil Engineering, CEG Campus, Anna University, delivered the session through video conference.

Dr. Kanmani’s presentation began with an overview of the origin of life and the effects of industrialization and greenhouse gas emissions. She presented alarming statistics on global warming and sea-level rise, underscoring the urgency of sustainable action.

Emphasizing the need for a circular economy, she advocated for water conservation, rainwater harvesting, and responsible resource use. During the interactive session, she discussed the challenges in advancing desalination technologies and urged participants to contribute to environmental protection and sustainability through individual and collective efforts.
