Appreciation of NIC for Development of DBT Payment Module for Rural Housing Schemes

The National Informatics Centre, Tamil Nadu State Centre (NIC-TNSC) has been providing ICT support to the Rural Development & Panchayat Raj Department for over 25 years, developing and implementing several key software applications that have strengthened e-Governance in the State.

NIC-TNSC developed an integrated online portal for implementing Kalaignarin Kanavu Illam—a State-funded rural housing programme—and the Repairs to Rural Houses Scheme, a special initiative to renovate houses built under various Government schemes.

The system includes modules for beneficiary selection, Grama Sabha approvals, work order generation, stage-wise valuation, and Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) payments to beneficiaries and vendors. It also integrates monitoring dashboards, mobile inspection apps, and statutory payment features.

So far, over 2 lakh houses have been processed, and payments totaling ₹4,000 crore have been successfully made through the system.

A Certificate of Appreciation was presented to the NIC-TNSC Rural Development Team on 10th July 2025 by Thiru Gagandeep Singh Bedi, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary, in recognition of their outstanding contribution.
