Safer Internet Day 2026
Safer Internet Day was observed globally on 10th February 2026 under the theme “Smart Tech, Safe Choices – Exploring the Safe and Responsible Use of AI.” The day aims to promote safe, responsible, and ethical use of the internet, especially among children and young people, while addressing emerging online challenges.
The National Informatics Centre (NIC), Tamil Nadu State Centre, along with its District Centres, organized 48 awareness events across various districts, reaching approximately 6,637 participants, including Government officials, and students from schools and colleges.
In this regard, the District Collectors of Tenkasi and Erode, Thiru A.K. Kamal Kishore and Thiru S. Kandasamy, I.A.S., respectively, chaired Safer Internet Day awareness training meetings on 10th February 2026 to promote online safety and responsible digital practices.
The State Informatics Officer- TN at Central Govt. Office Complex, Chennai hosting about 30 Departments, delivered keynote addresses emphasizing the safe and responsible use of the Internet. The session covering common cyber threats, essential cyber hygiene practices, mechanisms for reporting cybercrimes, and the secure use of Government communication infrastructure, reinforcing the importance of digital safety and resilience.
